![]() ![]() It’s moderately embarrassing – I’m playing a character, mind you, but I can’t help but look back at my puffy cheeks, splotchy skin and glasses that are too small for my face and cringe. Us playing this mode together was even featured in a video project by a former roommate, Ryan. That’s the one everybody talks about and hooked them on the system, and with good reason.īut Rayman Raving Rabbids gave us nearly as much joy. ![]() The Wii’s initial library was small, but it had a few gems. Word spread quickly of our newly acquired treasure. Somehow I ended up with it when I flew home in May. I have a vivid memory of standing inside the store, trying to get warm as we all converse about how much we each owed, how much we should each take out, navigating daily withdrawal limits, promises of repayment and who was going to take it when we graduated. It had a very small cash limit annoying then, amusing now. So, we rounded up the team, put on our five layers of sweaters and jackets and braved -30 with wind chill to trek down to Sassy’s, the local convenience store and the closest ATM. ![]() Could we pay him back when he got to our place? Yes. Now it's time for him to fight other legends.Eventually, one of our friends called us from a Best Buy in Moncton and wanted to know if we wanted him to buy the last Wii on the shelves. We'll keep walking even during our darkest times, always optimistic for the future. For the next 6 months, we'll be celebrating a gaming legend that is perfectly suited for Smash.ĭuring those six months, we'll fight for Rayman's inclusion in Smash. We also need to show Ubisoft that Rayman is long overdue for a brand new 3D adventure. We're going to show Nintendo that Rayman is worthy enough to be in Smash. However, all of us here are in this for the long run. That said, it's going to be a long time before we're going to be in September. I mean, there are many ways his birthday could be celebrated, be it a new 3D adventure, a symphony playing Rayman music, some amazing concept art being created for the occasion, and having Rayman become a fighter in Smash. Of all the characters Nintendo had asked for, it was a character that was non-existent in Japan and was from a company Nintendo didn't exactly have the best relationship with. Has no presence in Japan, Legends later went multiplatform, has never been a fighter in Smash, Nintendo ASKS Ubisoft for a sketch of Rayman, but they receive a model instead. Has a big fanbase around the world (especially in Japan), had an exclusive game on the 3DS, a fighter in Brawl, Kojima asked Sakurai to add him in Smash 4. To the people that say that Rayman isn't iconic enough to be in Smash, I would love it if they could explain why he has a trophy in Smash, but Snake doesn't. ![]()
